    China will Issured the Mandatory National Standards for E-cigarettes

    Recently, the official website of Standardization Administration of the P.R.C. showed that ““Compulsory National Standard for Electronic Cigarettes” has been reviewed and is currently in the “Approving” status, according to the project schedule, or will be released during this year.


    According to the information of the official website of SAC, the e-cigarette national standardization formulation plan was issued in October 2017, and has entered the final “approval” stage, which means that the official e-cigarette national standard will come out in the second half of the year 2019. The production and circulation will be strictly in accordance with national standards.

     

    At the industry level, China's e-cigarette products have developed rapidly in recent years. At present, there are more than 4,000 e-cigarette enterprises. Nearly 90% of the world's e-cigarettes are made in China, but the industry is extremely fragmented, and the penetration rate of E-cigarette in China is less than 0.5%, and there is still great advancement compared with the penetration rate of more than 5% in Europe and America. With the rapid development of electronic cigarette industry, the industry is facing an embarrassing situation of lack of unified product standards and effective regulatory evaluation. A large number of small and medium-sized enterprises are engaged in OEM export business with low added value. The introduction of the domestic mandatory standards will greatly improve product manufacturing standards and increase the production costs, and the small OEM factories with low added value have been closed down and withdrawn from the market. The E-cigarette industry is expected to accelerate the reshuffle, in the future, the industry leading advantages of branding and scale will become more and more evident.

     

    Reference to overseas markets, traditional tobacco giants, traditional tobacco giants, with their strong brand influence, extensive distribution channels and financial advantages, have occupied most market shares of e-cigarette industry in their regions.  For example, the top four tobacco giants in the United States occupy around 95% of the e-cigarette market sales share. With the standardization of e-cigarette standards in China, China's traditional tobacco giants may be expected to enter the e-cigarette field in the future.
